ISLE OF SKYE DESTINATION WEDDING, SCOTLAND

Sometimes you just know things are going to be amazing. And when I opened up the email from Rita and Karim, I knew there was something about this wedding and that I just had to be a part of it. It was their attitudes, their genuine nature – I could tell simply from the words they had written, and I was drawn to them immediately. It wasn’t long, then, that we began planning their destination wedding is Scotland.

This country is filled with castles, but few have the charm and idyllic location that the Eilean Donan Castle boasts. The bridge that takes you across the loch to the castle is stunning and makes for the most grand of entrances. The castle itself is cold and austere, in a rugged sort of way, which only adds to its beauty. But it’s in the great hall where you finally find the warmth, and it was a lovely setting for their wedding ceremony.

The reception, hosted at the Skeabost Hotel, was once again warm and joyous and full of raucous laughter. Short on ceremony, focused on enjoyment, this was a magnificent display of all that is great about weddings. Their guests were treated to a Scottish Ceilidh where they learned some local dances, and even performed a few with moderate success. But I stopped paying attention to the footwork, so focused was I on the smiles on all the faces.

The following day, Rita and Karim dressed up once again in their wedding attire, and we toured around the Isle of Skye, chasing the sunlight and finding the most gorgeous landscapes to play in. I cannot imagine a more magical place to be married, nor a more wonderful couple to enjoy it with.
